McDonald’s Red-less advertising

Since when McDonalds allow any advertising or publications without RED COLOUR?

Is this overlooked by the brand owner in the US? I am not sure, just wondering it might be the case. As a global brand, McDonalds should say NO to this local advertising.

I can imagine someone from the brand guardian team say this: “Dont you dare, RED and YELLOW are my CORE brand colours!”

Any McDonalds team, can you explain?

    i’m not from McDonald, bu Amalia, i’m just a Business School student.
    i think it has been awhile no RED color, only yellow M and I’m lovin’ it also in yellow. (I find out in my Financial Accounting Sixth Edition book, the authors Libby/Libby/Short, McGraw-Hill, 2009.

    my comment : the advertising is very Indonesia banget and purple background is just not fit.

    it’s remind me when i saw firstly McD used purple theme on its billboard on Kalibata. It just about 3-4 months ago, when McD freshly published about its new ICE CREAM product. Its full of blue color. I think its to make stronger the association about ICE FREEZE with BLUE THEME.. And i think it makes the consumer feel agree..

    And time goes on when McD used purple as its theme.. in my opinion, its a kind of continuous “variation” in McD’s billboard..

    im still learning, and for my mistakenness, i hope everyone can correct it honestly.. ^^

    Sepintas melihat iklan ini, saya langsung mengatakan ini iklan McDonald’s. Tapi dua kali mengamatinya, saya malah jadi curiga, betulkah ini iklan McD? Ke mana warna merah yang biasanya menjadi background color logo M yang khas itu? Apalagi tidak ada sama sekali identitas “Mc Donald’s” di sekitar logo itu. Kalau tidak membaca bodycopy di sebelah kiri bawah yang menyebutkan “….Nikmatin aja Menu mantap (Makan Tanpa Tapi) McDonald’s bla..bla..” saya tidak akan yakin ini iklan McD.

    Tapi ini memang iklan McD, meski red-less–meminjam istilah bu Amalia. Dan saya yakin, iklan ini pasti sdh melewati proof print sang pengelola brand di sini. Saya juga sudah mencoba bertanya kepada Mr Google, dan “beliau” langsung menjawabnya dengan menunjukkan logo McD dalam aneka ukuran, warna, dan penggunaan. Ternyata banyak logo McD dengan huruf M berwarna kuning saja–tanpa merah sbg background.

    Tapi warna merah sepertinya sudah terlanjur dipersepsi menjadi corporate color McD. Apakah mungkin kalau McD sekarang mengukuhkan saja warna merah pada background logo sebagai corporate color-nya?

    Tapi karena persepsi itu terlanjur melekat, mungkin
